The public OAuth endpoint is enabled for connection testing. Account connection and a complete hire-to-result flow in ChatGPT are still being verified. For an established setup path, use a supported local agent.
CrowdListen’s hiring connection is designed to let you find an expert, agree on a deliverable and maximum price, follow progress, and open the saved result from your conversation. Connecting your account does not approve paid work.

Connect for testing

You need a CrowdListen account with access to the workspace you want to use, and a ChatGPT account that allows custom MCP apps. Your workspace administrator may control this feature. This guide covers a custom connection; it does not imply a published app-directory listing.
  1. Open ChatGPT Plugins, choose Add, then Add custom MCP server. If this option is unavailable, check your account and workspace permissions.
  2. Name the app CrowdListen and use this MCP server URL:
  3. Choose OAuth authentication. If shown, use Streamable HTTP, scope experts:hire, and dynamic client registration. You do not need a copied CrowdListen account token.
  4. Review the custom-server notice, choose Create as a plugin, then Connect CrowdListen. Complete CrowdListen sign-in, review the requested access, and choose Connect agent.
  5. Attach or enable CrowdListen in a new ChatGPT conversation, then run the connection check below.
The CrowdListen sign-in window and a successful account connection are separate from permission to start a paid task. Check the account and workspace from the connected conversation before reading private work.

Check the connection

Start with a free read:
Confirm the account, workspace, and live expert availability returned by CrowdListen. A successful website login or a tool list alone does not prove account access. The hiring connection exposes expert tools; it does not promise every tool from the full local harness.

Hire your first expert

If no available expert supports the request, choose a supported task before approving anything.
  1. Review the deliverable, sources, scope, limits, and maximum charge in the quote.
  2. Explicitly approve that exact work order when you are ready. If the scope or price changes, review a new quote.
  3. Keep the returned task ID. Check progress using that ID instead of starting another task after an interrupted response.
  4. Open a fresh conversation with CrowdListen attached and ask it to retrieve the same task and saved result.
  5. Inspect the deliverable, cited sources, available artifacts, and recorded usage or receipt.
Connecting grants access within your account and workspace permissions. It does not approve spending, extend workspace membership, or grant another user access to your private results. See hiring and running experts for the full lifecycle.

Disconnect

Remove or disconnect CrowdListen from ChatGPT’s app settings. Follow the host’s revocation flow where offered, then verify that a new conversation can no longer access CrowdListen. Removing an app from one conversation alone may only detach it from that conversation. The Personal agent connections list on CrowdListen currently manages the separate read-only connection. It does not list this hiring OAuth connection. Disconnecting does not cancel a running expert task; request cancellation separately and check its status.

Troubleshooting

  • Server unavailable or OAuth discovery fails: check the server URL and try again from the plugin settings. Do not use a protected staging URL.
  • No custom app controls: check ChatGPT’s account and workspace settings. Availability depends on the host; use a supported local agent if the feature is unavailable.
  • Sign-in returns an error: retry from the host’s connection settings. If a callback is rejected, contact CrowdListen with the error and callback URL, without tokens or authorization codes.
  • Only read-only access is available: check the exact server URL. The hiring connection differs from the saved-results account connection and legacy remote MCP endpoint.
  • No tools or the wrong account: reconnect from ChatGPT, start a new conversation, and repeat the free connection check. Website sign-in alone does not prove the app is connected.
